Hi,

It used to be 200 baht to enter Koh Samet and I think about 50 or 60 baht for the ferry across to Na Dan Pier, the main port of entry.

Entry to Koh Samet (National Park) is I believe 400 baht for non-Thais. I don't know the ferry prices as I'm lucky enough to get complementary rides!

That's quite a big increase to 400 baht.

50 baht ferry ride. Thought the National Park was 200 Baht but I never bother paying

So, is the fee for the national park optional. How do you avoid it.

Thanks

It is not an option, you should pay.

Some ferry operators collect it with the fare, otherwise there's a pay desk at various points around the island. Avoiding payment is going to help the island deteriorate - the money goes towards the running of the National Park and facilities there. You'll spend a lot more than that on getting there, and on food and drink while you are there, so why be mean over a few baht?
