The fast Intercity nominally take ~ 1h30 but cost €22
The slower Regional take ~ 1h50 but cost only €9.50
However depending on your flight times will determine which trains are the next available.
For Regional trains you must stamp your ticket in one of the yellow boxes at the station/platform prior to boarding. Failure to do so will result in a €50 on the spot fine. Regional tickets are only for a specific Regional journey e..g Venice to Peschiera but are not for a specifc day, time or Regional train service. Hence you can buy these tickets days in advance and just use them whenever you want. Hence the need to stamp the ticket.
Fast Intercity services (e.g. Frecciargento FAA; Frecciabianca FB and Eurostar ES) tickets are for a specifc train on a specifc day/time and come with an automatic seat reservation - like a flight. No need to stamp these tickets.
