" visit Rhodes by little train "

hello.I will be visiting Rhodes in late May.

I'd like to know about touring the city on board of a little train. Where is the departing point and how much does it cost?

We'll be staying at Eden Roc near Kallithea ( the review are not so good, but what do you think about it?)Thanks a lot.

Little train leaves @ Mandraki Harbour by The National Theatre. I think the fare is € 3

It leaves in front of "Aktaion" cafe restaurant at Mandraki harbour in Rhodes Town.

The ride takes an hour (it leaves every hour) and it costs 7 euros p.p.

It makes a circuit of the Old Town walls, then it goes up the Monte Smith Hill and then down to Psaropoula, returning to the departure point.

It's not a hop hop off.

You can go to the Rhodes Town by bus or taxi from Kallithea.

After resisting and laughing at it for years, I'm afraid we now have to go on the "Wally Trolley" every time we visit Rhodes - my young son loves it! Hourly trips starting at 9.00am with last one at 9.00pm. The 7 euros includes a bottle of water. We always go for the first one of the day as it tends to be less crowded than those later on.

Enjoy,

Dave.

Hi Mart,

You are right. I forgot the "on". The phrase is hop on, hop off.

It means you can't get off in any place and wait for the other one to come, like the hop on hop off buses in big cities.

I think kids like it most, but it's also convenient for parents because they can relax aboard.

You know, there was a disagreement between the locals about this train but I am glad it survived.

Mart, It's not in my schedule for the June - August period, but there is a strong probability for September, going also to Kastellorizo.

I really miss both islands.

Hi,

Seen it but never been on it. Think I may give it a try in July as it seems quite good.

Mart - do you think they'll let me drive? I could then call myself Dai the Engine!

Cheers
