travel without a car through rhodes

I plan to travel around Rhodes for a week and am wondering how reliable the buses are and how long it takes to get from place to place. Any advice would be helpful as need to get from airport to genadi and back.I really dont want to hire a car but it looks to me like that would be the best option.

Hi

he airport to Genadi is quite a distance you can get a bus from the airport to Rhodes Town then you will need to get a second bus, depending on how many there are of you and the time of arrival a taxi could be better, but every day travel around Rhodes is easy and cheap by bus

Hi there

Bus servicews on the island are generally pretty good although there are one or two top sights for which you will need a car or an organised excursion.

From the airport to Gennadi is a fair old trip and means changing bus stations in Rhodes Town which with luggage will be a tiring job. What I'd suggest is to grab a taxi at the airport and ask the driver to drop you at the bus station on Papagou - this is the one that serves the east side of the island. From here you can catch a bus to Gennadi. Buses depart for Gennadi at 0645, 0800, 0930, 1030 ( not on Sundays), 1130, 1430, 1630, 1800 and 1930.

For your return, buses depart Gennadi for Rhodes Town at 0800, 0900, 1030, 1130, 1345, 1445, 1630, 1720 and 1830. One way fare in either direction is 2.60 euros.

The following top sights are either poorly served or not served at all by buses..

The village of Asklepio ( just a few kms from Gennadi so a taxi would be cheapish)

Monolithos
