Platanias-Falasarna bus???

I pray for help.

I would like to go to Falasarna and Elafonisos beach, but the local buses. Are there any bus service to the beach from the town of Platanias / Chania? Please have the number of buses and the number of hours with the beach back to the bus back Platanias, Agia Marina?

Thanks a lot

Hi there

There is just one bus per day that starts in Chania and stops in Agia Marina, Tavronitis, and Kandanou before going to Elafonissi. The bus is at 9am. You will need to find the bus stop to see what time it picks up in Agia Marina. The only bus back leaves Elafonissi at 5pm. The bus takes about two hours so you would arrive in Elafonissi at 11am.

There are buses to Falasarna from Chania, leaving at 0830, 1000, 1100, 1200, 1300 (1330 on Saturday and Sunday), 1530 and 1830 with buses back at 1000, 1130, 1230, 1330, 1430 (1500 on Saturday and Sunday), 1700 and 2000. I assume these buses run along the New National Road but I don't know whether they actually drop down into Platanias or Agia Marina, maybe one of our Chania locals can help with that?

I've never known a bus travel west using the "New Boad" because of the limited opportunities for picking up passengers/fares.

I will continue to plug

bus-service-crete-ktel.com/maps3han.html#HAN1

until visitors develop the wits to find it themselves using google seearch.

That's not very charitable is it? Tekanatea was asking for asistance here, which is what the forums are for. You might be an expert but not everyone who decides to use TA is. I have never used the bus service west from Chania as I always hire a car so was merely speculating as to the route it might take. If it takes the coastal route through the resorts then great, it makes life easier all round.

Tekanatea, I apologise for the rude reply you've had from "weloveholidays95", he or she is obviously having a "off day" and feels the need to be rude towards people who are seeking assistance.

Sorry, I still don't understand how people are unable to use Google search to find bus timetables. When we first went to Crete we were limited to timeables printed on the back of te tickets and the photocopies sometimes available in the bus station. This was a major part of the fun. It's all too easy now, even without getting other people to do all the work.

Do I still want to read the information of the people who have been and visited places that I was interested. The easiest way to find information on the Internet about everything, but the passenger experience is valuable

Sincerely

This was the "uncharitable" part of your post, WLH. I can understand your impatience: I too sometimes feel a bit impatient with people who appear to expect the regular forum members to do all their work for them, but a moment's thought reminds me that new posters who are new to Crete and new to the forum very often don't even know what they're looking for. And many do not have English as their native language. It's so easy to post a link: why not just do it instead of implying - as in this case - that the poster has no wits? There was no need for that.

Tekanatea, a great many people staying in the resorts along this coast want to go to Falassarna, which is one of the main attractions of the Chania prefecture, so I am pretty sure that the bus to Falasarna goes through all the tourist resorts along the way. You should have no difficulty travelling by bus from Platanias. The only time I did this journey was by car from Chania about 30 years ago, and it took about an hour. I imagine the bus, which makes a number of stops along the way, would take about the same amount of time from Platanias, but I'm guessing.

Falassarna is certainly worthwhile, but are you quite sure you want to make the lengthier journey to Elafonisi? It was once a beautiful, isolated beach, but has become the victim of its beauty and is now one of Crete's top tourist destinations. Everyone wants to go there, so there are organised coach trips from every part of Crete, with the result that it is so covered in sunbeds that you can apparently hardly see the famous pink sand underneath. There are some photos on google if you're interested. There are nice beaches all along the coast you are staying on. If you get tired of Platanias, try Agia Apostolii and Chryssi Akti - maybe on your way to or back from Chania.

Alabastron,

We were the second time to visit this beautiful island. Two years ago we were visited eastern part of the island. I'm familiar with a lot of information that you have presented in your post and I agree with them on high traffic of tourists on the three most famous beaches of Crete.

Photos are a beauty and personal experience of the other.

To thank
