Recommendation for Beachfront Bungalo/Villa for Honeymoon

We had planned to stay at the Calista Beachfront Bungalows,www.calistacostarica.com, for part of our honeymoon this October but just found out that they will be under construction during this time. Can anyone recommend similar accommodations? We are looking for something that offers a beachfront location, privacy, and is not part of a large or all-inclusive resort. Budget is between $250-300/night (rainy season rates).

Playa Cielo would be a good choice if one of the two front Villas is available. They have nice views of the pool and ocean. The others have views of the other villas and are not as desirable. Nice new, modern villas with kitchenette and generous indoor and outdoor space. The on-site restaurant, Habaneros, is very popular and so there is some noise and activity from the restaurant at night, but the villas are well situated so you can participate in or ignore the other patrons. have stayed there twice and would return again. The location is great.

I realize Casa Chameleon is not a perfect match, but it MIGHT be of interest to you if: 1) neighboring Mal Pais is a viable option, and 2) a villa located up in the rainforest (about a mile from the ocean) as opposed to beachfront is doable. On the plus side, Casa Chameleon is an adults only boutique (i.e., no kids!) and with only six villas (some of which are in your price range), there is plenty of privacy. In addition, each villa has its own private plunge pool with ocean views.....and beach access is plentiful. In fact, we are planning to explore a couple beaches in Santa Teresa during our stay in April. Oh, there is also a private chef at your disposal. Hope this helps, but regardless, congrats on your pending nuptials

Another option but in Montezuma, not Santa Teresa, is Ylang Ylang Beach Resort in an isolated location with great beach views. Won't work if surfing is on your agenda as Montezuma faces the Gulf of Nicoya rather than the Pacific. Rates include breakfast and dinner and we enjoyed the meals.

Hope that you are aware that October is the height of rainy season on the Pacific coast. You might want to consider a beach further north as there is less rainfall in the NW corner of the country. You might also want to look at the Caribbean coast as they have the best weather of the year in September and October. Not really a luxury destination (although it can be very romantic). Take a look a Gecko Lodge: http://www.geckoeslodge.com/casa-bromelia/ (not beachfront) and www.puertoviejosatellite.com

Depending on what part of October you are planning your honeymoon, Santa Teresa may not be the place you were expecting.

The first two weeks of October are usually very rainy. The last two weeks are still part of the green season, but the rains generally fall in the late afternoon or overnight. This is the part of the season that I absolutely love!! Everything is still very green, although a bit humid.....but the tourism is low and the crowds and dusty roads are non-existent! Many restaurants are still closed and don't open for the tourist season until Nov 1.

VRBO Santa Teresa is full of rentals in the same price range as Calista Beach bungalows.....just check out the site and choose one to your liking.

We stayed at supervista http://santateresa-beachfront.com and loved it. We have pictures on our blog at http://watsonvscostarica.tumblr.com

If you want a great place right on the beach I don't think it can be beat.
