7-8days,Sept or October, where to Land in Costa Rica???

My husband and I are planning to travel for about 7-8 days,in September or October. We dont know were to land, will like to see as much of the important landmarks as possible such as the arenal volcano, a beautiful beach, great food, nice hotel, places to shop for local items, etc, not picky just looking for a great experience.. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

if you want no rain, the Caribbean has better chances than the pacific,

but my favorite place is Guanacaste, Tamarindo is a nice beach that has hotels, restaurants and bars, and some stores around,

a nicer beach is Flamingo, with white sand , but the town is smaller

Conchal is one of my favorites , the beach is made of little pieces of sea shells, there is very good all inclusive there

The weather is going to be rough on the Pacific side at that time of the year, so you may want to consider the Caribbean side. Do some research first as it is not for everybody. If you go over there, check out the Puerto Viejo area, which meets all of the requirements on your list.

If you go to the Pacific side, your focus should be in northern Guanacaste, which is the driest area on the Pacific. JoseB covered the various beaches.

September is great for observing Arenal Volcano (not currently erupting). The mornings are usually nice at that time of the year with harder rains in the late afternoon. October is very rainy, so if you have the flexibility, September would be better.

As for airports; if you decide on the Caribbean, you should fly into SJO. If you decide on Guanacaste, LIR is closer.

Great advise by ExploringCA. The Caribbean beaches are very beautiful and Puerto Viejo Limon is a great area to go, however it is not for everybody. Flamingo Tamarindo on the Pacific side are very nice beaches. If you decide for the Pacific Beaches fly to Liberia.
