Public bus bet BF & Georgetown - reliable and convenient?

I see that there's a bus service called RAPID that runs through Penang. Is this bus service (or any other local service) a reliable alternative to getting between Batu Ferringhi and Georgetown in terms of frequency of schedule? It looks like there's a route that plys the road between the Batu Ferringhi hotel area and into Gurney Drive and the various shopping venues and restaurants.

Alternatively, can you provide a perspective on one way taxi fares between BF and Georgetown that I can expect to pay?

Thanks!

We used the bus quite a bit. It doesn't necessarily seem to run to a time schedule but they are quite frequent. Bus stops are all along Batu Ferringi but quite often they would stop if you just hail them. Cost is 2MR to Georgetown. Someone told us they were paying 30MR for a taxi but we didn't use one. Bus is comfortable and drivers were helpful in telling us where to get off if you know where you want to go. The Batu Ferringi bus turns the corner a Gurney Plaza, we got off just before and walked. It stops outside Komtar and Fort Cornwallis and the jetty.

HI

The Rapid Penang is a reliable and convenient and more imporantly cheap.

As for conveniance, the taxis are probaly better, as you can get one as and when you need it, but at over 10x per taxi the cost only your can decide if its worth it.

You can look at this website

so you can put your own perspective on the bus.
