wild horse tours

We will be staying in the Duck/Sanderling area Easter week. There will be 6 of us (2 adults, 2 age 16, 13 and 10). My daughter absolutely wants to see the wild horses. I have seen jeeps that you take out on your own with a GPS and ones that have a tour guide. What is the best and most economical way to do this with this many people and also the way to get the most out of it? Do the tour guides give you good and interesting info?

Thanks - counting down the days as we sit here in the middle of a snow storm with sub zero wind chills!

Hello! It's cold here, too! I am sure we don't come close to the amount of snow you all have had!

Here are a couple of guides that people use to head past Corolla to look for the horses, or what's left of them anyway.

We go each summer to Duck. We have taken the ATV tours and they are lots of fun. 2 people per atv. Must have a drivers license to drive on the beach. Make a reservation early when you get there. Some coupons are in the books given out at the realty offices. When we first started going tothe OBX 19 yrs ago, the horses would still wander around the beach houses north of Sanderling. Now there are so many houses that they are pushed north of whalehead. The guides were good and had a lot of ecological knowledge.
