Well you must go to the beach at Bottom Bay, that is a must.

Otherwise there really isn't too much in the area.

Since you have car a you'll probably be driving around and going to places.

Take a look at things to do on the left side of the page.

Thanks for your response. We've reviewed most of the info on the site - just wondered if there was some special little spot to have a snack or see something amazing. You are right, we are prepared to scout the island with the car as well!

Spent two weeks there a couple of years ago. Amazing.

Not much in area, but drive to the gap for restaurants aplenty. PM me for info.

Try Cutters for lunch, quite close to the Crane. Have a meal at Zen @ the Crane, an excellent Asian restaurant (Thai - Japanese)

Next to Bottom Bay beach (to the right as you look to sea) is old Harrismith House (now abandoned and delapidated, but still eerily beautiful) and in front of the house are steps down to an amazing small and quiet beach which is protected by a reef and has crystal clear rock pools to explore - perfect for an afternoon and sundowners - take them with you though as there's nothing close by, except some cows!!! Where are you staying?

oh, and you can take a short drive around towards the East coast and visit Ragged Point lighthouse and Skeetes Bay (there's a fish market there) as well as Bath which is a bigger version of Harrismith, protected by the reef. There's also a nice new toilet/shower block and upgraded playground if you have kids : )
