Thinking of staying at the Z hotel Nugwai zanzibar.

Is the area of Nungwai a good spot, we want the freedon of walking on the beach at night without any hassle, I no this cannot be guaranteed anywhere you go but some feedback for other parts of the island say no way.

Also what other hotels are around and whats in nugwai, is there a village?

You can easily walk from Kendwa to Nungwi daytime only when the tide is out. Be sure to ask locals advice for times of high tide because you can seriously get caught, but otherwise it's a lovely walk. Other times you can easily take a boat or a taxi(the road is rough).

You can also walk easily from Ras Nungwi to Nungwi when the tide is low. There are good hotels closer to Nungwi main area than Ras Nungwi ie. Smiles,Flametree,Mnarani where you won't be disturbed by the bar/disco scene but you still have lovely beach and good swimming and are close to everything. You can watch the local dhows going out to fish every afternoon, visit the fish market in the am,visit the turtle sanctuary etc. Enjoy your stay.

Thanks Pure Zanziber. Ras Nungwi sounds like it will be ideal for me as a solo traveler! I appreciate your help!

We just got back from staying at Langi Langi on our honeymoon. We were looked after VERY well and would highly recommend this hotel. We swapped between hotels for dinner at Langi & Z Hotel which is also amazing but more pricier. The cocktails are fantastic at Z Hotel. Nungwi is FAR better to stay at on your honeymoon than Kendwa which is more for backpackers. We walked to Kendwa at 10pm when the tide was out for a beach party and it was fine. Getting back was a bit of a mission but all part of the fun. Enjoy, Zanzibar is AMAZING!!!
