Hi there,

Well Club Bentota is not really central. It's

* Either the free boat to Aluthgama (north of bus station jetty). On main road there are a few scattered touristy restaurants, not aware of bars. Could also take a tuktuk there across the bridge to Bentota, maybe Rs 100.

* Or about 1500 m walk along the peninsula to the 'Bentota strip' near the Bentota station, which has quite a few bars/restaurants. Sometimes that causeway is also open for tuktuks and sometimes only for hotel deliveries.

So yes it's possible but no not as easy as elsewhere in Bentota.

All the best,

Hi,

The free boat from Club Bentota will take you across the river to their main entrance at Galle Road.

I'm only aware of one touristy restaurant/bar in Aluthgama town - Pier 88 between Nebula supermarket and the local cinema. After 7.30-8 pm Aluthgama is more or less a ghost town.

You may be able to get the boat boys a Club Bentota to drop you at Moragalla beach (for a tip) just outside Maharaja sea food restaurant. From there it's a short walk on the beach to Blue Lagoon.

You can also walk (about 600-700 m) to Maharaja and Blue Lagoon. From the main entrance turn left and walk along Galle Road, take the first lane (Lanka Princess) to the beach. On the land side of Galle Road you will find Ayesha Pub and Restaurant, Lagoon Garden and Riverdale.

Walking right from the main entrance you will find Nilwala, Arayalia and Ganga Garden with 1 km.

A tuk tuk to Bentota will cost LKR 150-200.

The road up along the beach from Bentota has been closed (except for hotel deliveries, people staying in company bungalows and the Tourist Board bungalow). Close to Club Bentota the road was badly damaged by the 2004 tsunami, so a tuk tuk would not be able to go all the way anyway. You will need a 4x4 for that.
