Planning June trip to Yosemite These Washington sequestration cuts sounds awful for Yosemite,. Should we cancel? I just want to make sure we are safe the park is clean and sanitary and maintained and supplied and we can access the Visitor Center some.

I was thinking about visiting and haven't seen anything specific regarding cuts at Yosemite. With all the taxes we pay and all the waste in government spending, it's incredible that cutting back on the parks is even being considered.

Sequester cuts are not going to happen for awhile, if ever. Relax and enjoy while you can.

Don't cancel your trip. The park will be open. You may see some shifts in service availability, but you will be able to visit, the park will still be beautiful. I'm in the park fairly regularly, and there is absolutely no problem accessing the park, and the park is still clean, with restrooms to be used.

Sequester cuts actually are happening in Yosemite right now though of course things can always change based on what happens next in D.C. Though the media may not always be believed, there is this article:

I also have friends in other federal open space management agencies (NOT National Park service and NOT connected to Yosemite) that are receiving furlough notices of one day a week.

Don't worry, if you're in a more important government agency, funds are not cut for a security conference in San diego that features "zombie apocalypse training." There's also a new $50M deal for new uniforms for the TSA that most TSA personnel can't even access. Or the $400,000 increase in budget for portraitures of obscure White House staff.

The environment and national parks do remain top priorities. Don't doubt that for a second.
