Yosemite for 4 days

We will be staying at the Yosemite Bug, arriving the afternoon of August 3 and we have 3 full days and two half days to hike and see as much of the Park as possible. We are traveling via motorcycle. One day should be set aside to get as close to Half Dome as physically possible, can you suggest the best use of our time and what to see?

Hi gogators52

We've loaded up the Top Questions with ideas including Trip Reports from past visitors and the Itineraries. Please read through those to get some ideas.

In general, summer visitors usually spend a full day in Tuolumne Meadows, a full day in Yosemite Valley, 1/2 day at Glacier Point, and 1/2 day at Mariposa Grove. you can spend more or less time in places that work best for you. Perhaps you'll want to spend a day hiking up to May Lake and on to Mt Hoffman, perhaps two days along Tioga Road / Tuolumne Meadows to avoid the crowds, perhaps a full day hike in the Valley and one day as a meandering tourist, .... lots of options.

Since you're staying in Midpines, it might be easier to get to or from Mariposa Grove via Triangle Road - Hwy 49 - Oakhurst - Hwy 41 - South Entrance. http://goo.gl/maps/X2EmT Whenever you visit Mariposa Grove, try to have it early in the morning (arrive by 9 am) or at the end of the day (arrive after 4:30 pm) so you can get a spot in the parking lot. tripadvisor.com/Travel-g61000-d592681

I like the Sentinel Dome hike for a great view along the Glacier Point road: tripadvisor.com/Travel-g61000-d532061

You get pretty close to the base of Half Dome when you walk up the Mirror Lake / Meadow trail. You get great views of Half Dome from many places in the Valley, from Glacier Point, from Sentinel Dome, and from Olmsted Point. I assume you are not asking about the 18 mile hike to the top of Half Dome.
