Finger Lakes travel with kids

I will be driving from Buffalo to the Finger Lakes. I want to be centrally located, and I prefer to be near a main town with a market close by. I prefer more luxurious accomodations, although it doesn't appear there are any other than Geneva and the Castle which don't look kid friendly. Someone recommended Canandaigua, but I'm not sure myself. Help!

You might want to look at the Harbor Hotel in Watkins Glen. There are also some very nice places in and around Ithaca.

I wouldn't pick Watkins Glen (very congested, limited market choices in/near town) for an overnight; although the state park is a must-see. I vote for Ithaca or Canandaigua, depending on which part of the Finger Lakes you are visiting. Canandaigua is central to the western lakes, Ithaca to the eastern ones.

Thanks for your help. Since we are coming from Buffalo, I think Canandaigua is the best choice. I still plan to run around the area and see everything I can, but this is in the area I'm looking for. Thanks!
