Reds game

We are going to see the Reds play is it better to stay close and walk or stay farther and save money? Any suggestions on where to stay and eat we are also going to Kings Island. I have heard the traffic from the game is bad maybe paying more would be worth it. I see there is a nice Holiday Inn about 4 miles away. Also we want to be in a safe area.

There's a lot more going on in downtown Cincinnati than there was even a few years go, so if you stayed downtown and walked, you would be able to go to restaurants and bars, maybe see music on Fountain Square, depending on the night, in addition to being able to walk to the game. The casino is open on the edge of downtown now as well. But if that is not stuff you're interested in, it might not make the extra expense of staying downtown worth it.

If you decided to stay outside of downtown, Blue Ash is an area with some hotels that would be fairly central between GABP and Kings Island.

When I go to Reds games, I usually park in the underground garage at Fountain Square. It's a bit of a walk from the stadium to there, so the traffic isn't quite as bad getting out as from the garages right around GABP. You can also park across the river in Newport and walk or take the Southbank Shuttle.

Since the ballpark is centrally located, traffic does disperse fairly quickly after a game. You might have to wait to get out of a garage or lot, but you shouldn't have to sit in traffic too long once you're out on the road.

I've sat in different places, down low and up high, and I don't think there are any seats where I felt like the view of the game is terrible.

If you sit in the left field bleachers, you'll be underneath the main scoreboard. So if you want to be able to look at that, you should avoid those seats. That side of the field also tends to get more sun, so if you don't want to get a sunburn, you may want to stay on the first base side.

I would suggest parking at Newport on the Levy, walking over the bridge or taking the south bank shuttle. It's so easy. Picks you up just outside the parking garage and drops you right at the stadium. after the game it picks you up in the same spot and takes you right back to Newport on the Levy. There's also plenty to do at the Levy, restaurants, the Aquarium, ice cream, the river walk... Have fun!

We love the Reds. Also, if you're looking for tix, stubhub is a great place to find some. Sort by row and choose any in row A, any cation. We love being in the first row of any section. More room and no one directly in front of you. We also love the bleacher seats, you don't get a great view of the scoreboard, but its a great view of everything else.
