Outrigger Reef vs Waikiki

Which of these two has nicer oceanfront rooms? Is the lanai about the same size for each? Thanks for the input

We stayed at the Reef in an oceanfront room and it was beautiful! It seemed very spacious, about 400 square feet. The balcony was roomy enough for 2 chairs and a smaller table. The location is in a quieter section of Waikiki beach...that's why we choose it over the other hotel.

I would choose an oceanfront room at the Reef over the Outrigger Waikiki. Quieter and less cramped feeling. Understand that you can easily walk between the two proerties - so Duke's and Hula Grill are still good dining alternatives for you.

Completely agree with the previous posts. We only stay at the Outrigger Reef when we are in Waikiki. Having said that, the Outrigger Waikiki did undergo a complete renovation in 2012, so if it is newer decor you are looking for you might want to try a night or two at each. The room prices are comparable to each other. If you stay at the Reef, request a higher floor with an Ocean Front room on the Diamond Head side - better views, especially for the sunrises over Diamond Head. The Reef is at the western end of Waikiki Beach and much quieter, relaxed atmosphere. The staff at the Reef are outstanding, and both have excellent restaurants.
