Small our of way beaches? Romantic beaches?

We will be in Waikiki for our honeymoon and was wondering if there are any out of the way beaches or smaller, less touristy spots that may be a romantic place for honeymooners?

Thank you!

Not small, but a beach very few people (except locals) know about on the windward side. Conditions here will depend on what time of year you are coming. Kokololio Beach Park is a great place.

Thank you, looks great. Any ideas of a quiet place to watch the sunset near Waikiki?

HUH? I've been out there plenty, placebets and never ran into anyone who was a miscreant!! Never saw any dogs either. Isolated incidents can happen anywhere.

About the sunset, what time of year are you coming? That will determine where to watch it!!

Take a walk up Kalakaua Avenue and around the ocean-side base of Diamond Head in late afternoon....

There are several "pocket" beach parks on the way which rarely have anyone using them and provide an excellent place to watch the sunset.

(Which unfortunately will not be over water from Honolulu in August).

Also, a stroll along Kahala Beach (on the other side of Diamond Head from Waikiki) can be very romantic in the evening and at night.

Lots of street parking and access points, and the beach is long, soft white-sand and beautiful. Plus you are walking in front of some of the most expensive homes on the planet.

Really is a wonderfully quiet and intimate experience.

Of course, you can walk for maybe 3 or 4 miles along Waimanalo Bay, and encounter very, very few folks. Or a similar distance along Kailua Bay, although there are typically a few more people (but by no means crowded).

Yeah, the nice estate on Pounders Point overlooking Kokololio has German Shepard(s). But I have always found them playful and of no concern, and they only come to check you out if you walk to the very far end of the beach. I've never seen them on 95% of the strand.

Kokololio is about my favorite beach in the world, and I highly recommend it. Rural, never hardly anyone there, great clean services, eay access. A near-perfect beach park.

Funny, most folks would tell you that this area of Oahu has the lowest crime rate.

Magic Island at Ala Moana Beach Park is the best place to watch the sunset. Go all the way out to the point.
