Hawaii for Halloween 2012

Hi,

My family and I (kids13 & 11), will be in Honolulu from October 30-Nov 4. We were wondering what we should do for Halloween? It'll be our first US Halloween and the kids are really excited. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks

:)

Aloha,

Waikiki has become a World wide destination for Halloween.

Really big time like Mardi Gras in New Orleans

Expect up to 30,000 people

Not a trick or treat place for young ones, but safe and amazingly fun and people seem to have a good time and no pushing

It will be packed, fun, crazy but safe.

A good time for all.

Here are some pics that are really mild, can get a little slinky !

Keep an eye on the kids,

Aloha

Aloha,

Well, maybe not like Mardi Gras, as no parade but just as much excitement and crazy costumes for sure

Aloha

Waikiki is a crazy place on Halloween. All you need to do is walk along Kalakaua Avene to experience the excitement. Everyone dresses up and parades along the Avenue. It's up to you if you want to wear a costume.

We were there for Haloween last year for the first time and will be there again this year. Your children (and you) will love it. Your children are old enough to stay up a bit latter to enjoy it as it seems to go all night. It gets very crowded.

Crazy, crazy, crazy and such fun. It will be one of the highlights of your holiday in Waikiki.

Wow!! Sounds like a blast - we will be getting there after being in New York so I imagine we'll have plenty of opportunities to buy costumes.

Someone recommended the Haunted Lagoon at the Polynesian Cultural Centre??????

Whilst my kids like to think of themselves as "big" - the whole trick or treat certainly appeals to them too. Will there be any opportunity for that?

Thank you so much for your advice.

:-)

Stores in the Ala Moana mall typically have trick or treating for the kids on Halloween. See this video for an example:

Don't know anything about the Haunted Lagoon but notice there is a website. As far as trick or treat is concerned I think this would go on through the afternoon for the children The real street parade kicks off at about 7pm in Kalakaua Avenue.

I'm sure one of the locals can update us on this. Do the children go trick or treating through the afternoon on Kalakaua? Us visitors won't go knocking on your doors. :-)

We take our Halloween very seriously here in Honolulu....

And never miss a chance to blow things out of proportion and to party as long as possible.

So Halloween has turned into a multi-day event.

With street parties, music and art fairs culminating in the Waikiki frolic.

Last year it was five days of fun.

While they haven't released this years "Hallowbaloo" schedule for 2012 yet, here is a link to last years festivities.

Aloha,

Yeah, all the residents outside of Waikiki would like to share the candy treats.

Not like the good old days when hoards of ghosts and goblins and spidermans would come by for some fun.

Lots of fun tims now days at all of the Malls..

The Polynesian Cultural Center also has the Haunted Lagoon

Have a spooky fun time,
