Waikiki International Marketplace Food Court

Hi there,

Can anyone tell me what to expect at the Waikiki Int'l Marketplace Food Court? Is the food good and worth it? Is the place clean?

Thanks,

Lucy

Well, it's an outdoor food court, so there are pigeons and such. I really like the Mexican stand.

There is also a decent food court in Waikiki Shopping Plaza about a block from IMP.

The best food court on Oahu is at Ala Moana Center.

If you like sampling food, then try Kapiolani Community College Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings.

I didn't think it was all that special. Maybe if you said what you were looking for, people couild offer ideas. For me, anything with a view is better than no view...Food Court is no view.

What more do you want from a food court....

1. A rich variety of ethnic food types, almost all actually made by members of that ethnic group.

2. Tasty selection, with many dishes you are unlikely to have tried before or available near home.

3. Something for virtually every taste and dietary preference.

4. Almost no franchise operations, just small businesses using their family recipes.

5. Generally large portions.

6. Inexpensive to downright cheap.

7. Free music most afternoons and/or evenings.

6. An incredible international and local diversity of patrons.

But, as Dusty says, the Makai Market at Ala Moana Center is the best.

It has been 9 months since I was there, and I know that the Int'l Marketplace is supposed to be revamping and improving itself. That being said, I have never been tempted to try it. Never seemed particularly clean -- and there are so many other options on Waikiki.

Definitely not worth a special trip.

So Bud....

With that comment you are asserting:

A. You have had sufficiently numerous meals there to make a judgement on the quality of the entire complex.

B. You have eaten there repeatedly since their full re-opening just a couple of months ago. Any prior experience would be of limited value as there has been many changes in booth equipment, offerings and ownerships.

C. You have widespread expertise in food courts.

A = Unlikely

B = Slim to No Chance

C = Sure, why not

" Widespread expertise in food courts" !!!! Amberloo, get serious.

The person asking the question did not appear to be asking for the opinion of a food industry expert .

i was there a few weeks ago and it looked "dead", not well attended. it didn't look very inviting either, years ago it experienced better days. but all things will be new again as they renovate the market place. i ate plate lunches at a couple of stands there, years ago, and it was cheap, and good, and lots of it.
