Can I light a fire on the beach??

we're going to newport soon and I'd like to light a small fire on Second Beach and sit and look at the stars. Anybody know if this is allowed?

TIA.

Pretty sure it is not allowed, which is not to say that no one has ever done it, but I would imagine there is a fine should you be caught and should the police choose to do anything other than tell you to put it out. Third Beach has grill things where you can have a fire
