New Years Eve 2011

We are considering heading to Newport for NYE this year. We are frequent visitors but have never been for NYE so I was hoping that someone can give us some advice.

2 couples, no children. Late 30's early 40's

We normally stay at Harborside Inn but are looking at The Hyatt, having stayed there before and wanted something different.

We do not want a hotel dinner, so we will make reservations in town.

We are not looking for a crazy party after dinner but would like some entertainment (live music, etc) until 1am or so.

Any suggestions?

Usually around the beginning of December places will start advertising what they are doing for New Years.

The 5th Element on Broadway would probably be an option. They usually have a crowd in that age range. Not sure of their plans for New Year's though yet.

I'll try and post again as the time gets closer.

A friend of mine did the Hyatt last year and she really liked it. It has a party which does not include dinner, so that might work out for you.

Restaurant Bouchard has an amazing New Year's Eve Dinner. And also accomadation can be made at the Inn.

NYE is great in Newport! I know 41 North (right next to harborside inn) is having a party for the count down with a clicquot toast at midnight and a ball drop! I went last year and it was so fun. Good luck!
