Wellington Timeshare - overpriced!

We recently spent 2 nights at the Wellington. It was a 1 br suite. On the plus side, it has a huge kitchen and living room. The BR is large. It has a great deck looking out at the harbor. The pool area (indoor and outdoor) is very nice.

Another plus is the location. It's at the far end of Thames street, close to many funky shops and cafe's. It's a reasonable walk to the main tourist areas.

On the negative side, it's very overpriced. We paid $500 per night for mid week. The unit needs updating. A classic "80's" condo. The kitchen cabinets are outdated, the counter cheap plastic. The floor tiles are chipped and worn. The living room sofa's were filthy! Worn holes, stains, etc. Disgusting. The bathroom was not clean...certainly not was expected for the money.

An oddity was the location of the thermostat. This was a "lockout" type unit. This means that an extra br could be added or rented seperatley. Unfortunately, both areas share the same thermostat. I'd adjust it, then the other renter would change it.

Another oddity of this arrangment is there is no maid service. We were expected to strip the beds and empty the trash before leaving (via a multi page "rule" book in the unit). Yikes, just like staying at home!

The staff didn't seem too interested in us. The lobby area was in disarray due to renovations. When checking out, nobody asked how our stay was.

A better option is the Marriott or the Hyatt.

We had the same type of experience as well. We actually have stayed there for the last 5 years for the Jazzfest. This was our last time. Spoke to the resort manager and he had nothing to say about the situation. I am trying to track down the corporate offices to let them know how this resort is being managed.
