Hour long stop over with kids

We will be driving through Buffalo when the weather gets warmer and we are looking for something do do for an hour or so to take a break from the car. The canal museum up in Lockport looks really interesting but driving there would take way too much time. Any suggestions for something in Buffalo, or at least closer to the highway?

Just to clarify: is your plan to take the 90 down through the Southern Tier into Pennsylvania? If you do, you may want to check out East Aurora, Hamburg, or Orchard Park activities.

Main Street in East Aurora would have some things for you to do. They have a 5 and Dime called Vidler's that your kids would love - http://www.vidlers5and10.com/. They have a toy section, a "penny" candy section, a popcorn machine that is only 10 cents a bag and a big hit. The shop is located on a little walkable street - cafes, library, movie theatre. You would find some little shops and fun things to explore. Not too much - so an hour or two to spend there sounds about right.

There is also the Kazoo Factory in Eden - http://www.edenkazoo.com/history.php - not too far from the 90 and still in the Southern part of the state. They can build their own kazoo there. I've been, it doesn't take more than an hour or two and it is fun for the kids. Feel free to message me if you have any other questions.

East Aurora is just as far off the I90 as Buffalo. Both are easy to fill an hour out of the car. How old are the kids? If you decide to head to East Aurora, there is the Explore and More Children's museum. For younger children, it's great.

Another thought is visiting the Erie Canal: visitbuffaloniagara.com/things-to-do/… , especially if it's a nice day. You can stretch your legs, and if your kids are little they can run around. Older kids might enjoy the history.
