Horseback riding in/near Sante Fe

Hello-

Can anyone give a suggestion for scenic horseback riding in the Sante Fe area? Will be traveling there in late May for a wedding and will have some downtime to explore.

Thanks!

You have a couple of options depending on how much time you have and what type of riding experience you seek.

There is a stable down along the Turquoise Trail in Cerrillos named

Broken Saddle Riding Company that according to feedback we've gotten from folks is primarily "nose to tail" type trail riding in the hills around the ranch.

The service we recommend to any guests at our B&B is Equine Escapes located just north of Espanola on the way to Abiquiu.

The key differences we've found are that Debra will either take you out directly from her ranch into the public lands that adjoin her property or will trailer the horses and take you to any number of areas depending on what you want to see. Its also a more casual ride and less one horse following the tail of the one in front of it.

Her knowledge of the area and ability to take you past ancient ruins, walls carved full of petroglyphs, spectacular scenery, etc... and matching folks with the right horse according to ability and temperment is what our guests always come back and rave about.

505-753-3531 is her direct number.

I don't think you can go wrong with either choice.
