San Antonio/Lackland

Hello - what is the area going east out of Lackland like? We've heard traffic is better going that direction, but we're not sure about hotels, safety etc. Headed to graduation soon. Thank you!

1. Re: San Antonio/Lackland

traffic is not a big issue IMO..just immediatley before or after the ceremony

FYI, there is a topic in the right column with some info about Lackland

as well, you can type in Lackland in the above search box and lots of previous posts

downtown is an easy 20 min drive to :Lackland AFB...for ex. Drury Inn and Suites constantly gets good marks for service and price..the traffic from the east from downtown would probably not be as hectic as coming from 410 West/NW

accomodations in the immediate around Lackland are not great.....look for places with addresses along NW Loop 410...Ingram Park Area..standard chains, Hampton Inn, La Quinta, etc. or places around Sea World

happy planning and Congrats! to the grad.

I would recommend staying at the newer SeaWorld area hotels off of 151...it's a quick drive to Lackland, and there are a lot of restaurants in the area. Plan on arriving on base early, as traffic is INSANE on Thursdays due to the Airman's Run, and parking fills up quickly.
