Since we just spent the last few days there maybe my experience can help someone else.
If it will be your first time flying keep in mind the plane starts boarding 30 minutes prior to take off and stops boarding 5 minutes prior to take off. The security lines you must go through can be very long at times. You must give yourself enough time to get through them. Best to wear comfortable running shoes, you may have to run from one gate to the next in order to get on your next flight. Best to have exact change if you want a mix drink ($ 5 for 1)
We stayed at the Hilton on the Riverwalk, very nice and located on the Riverwalk right next to La Villita. However next time I would stay at the Hyatt since its much closer to everything else.
La Villita is closed on Sundays.
Reguardless of where you stay it would be best to get a trolley to get to Market Square (7 blocks from Riverwalk), have correct change $2 roundtrip for 2 people and it's good for 2 hours.
Take the Rio River cruise your first day there only $6 a person, worth it! You will get to see where everything is at in 45 minutes.
Which is mostly eating places and once you see that by boat then you will want to venture to the street level ,keep in mind you can get back down to the Riverwalk through alot of these places without having to do as much walking.
Wear very comfortable walking shoes.
Between 3-5 are "Happy Hours" for most places, you can get 2 drinks and a sampler appitizer platter for $10- this is just enough for 2 people, in any case on weekends to avoid the waiting time eat an early supper before 6.
Howl at the Moon is a must but don't go late, music starts at 8 and the tables fill up quickly. You can cut through Coyote Ugly, upstairs near the Chocolate Factory to get to Howl at the Moon much quicker.
Buckhorn Saloon is a must see so is the Alamo.
When you go the Alamo go to Pat O'Brians after very good and reasonable prices.
Nothing is cheap. If you like beer and or mixed drinks its best to buy what you like at CVS or Walgreens and have a few in your room.
Beer most places is $5 - $7 (1 beer)
Mixed drinks/ Margarita's are $5 and up.
Seaworld: you can buy tickets for Seaworld at the Buckhorn Saloon, this will help to avoid the long lines at Seaworld. At Seaworld pay the Extra $ 4 for the special Shamu parking $14 total but well worth it.
Wear comfortable shoes you will be doing alot of walking. I'm sure you will have enough with just a one-day pass although it cost the same as a 2-day pass.
Get a map as soon as you get through the gates. Don't lose it, only one other place has maps.
Turn the map over to see the shows and the times. First go see the Horses, sign up early for the Budwiser class you must be 21, class is free and you get 5 different beers to taste along with crackers, cheese, grapes, strawberries and chocolate. Follow the map, if you jump from one show to another show out of the order of the map you will be doing alot of unnecessary walking.
Smoking is only allowed in certain areas only a few in that whole park. The map will show where show where everything is located. Restaurunts, Bathrooms, Smoking Area etc..
Seating fills up very quickly at shows try to get there 20-30 minutes prior to the show start time esp the "Believe- Shamu" show.
Make you catch the 4-D show!!!! The 4-D show starts every 30 minutes 10- 10:30 - 11- 11:30 etc. You can get in line for this show 10 - 15 minutes early there is plenty of seating but you have to wait outside.
When leaving Sea World stop and eat at Rudys-a bar-b-q place, the Creamed Corn is there best side order. Chicken and Brisquet were very good.
Wildlife Adventure Drive through: You get one bag of feed for free and you can buy extra bags for $1- 1 or 2 extra bags would be plenty..keep in mind every car in front of you will also be feeding the animals so they will have a full stomach by the time you see them.
When you leave there go across the street to the Natural Bridge Caverns.
All in all we had a blast and would definitly go back to San Antonio Riverwalk area.
I am sure I am forgetting some things but I hope this can help someone going for their first time.
Something I wish I knew before hand- How much it was all going to end up costing for 2 adults -flights, shared hotel room expense w/another couple, shared car rental expense w/ other couple, then addmission into places, eats and drinks $ 2600 in 4 days. $ 1000 for flights and share of room--- $1600 for everything else.
lol- adds up quickly
