Lunch at Sagamore Hill ( Teddy Rosevelt Home ) ?

Hello, We will be visiting Sagamore Hill on Long Island in September. Do they have a small cafeteria there for lunch or a snack?? If not what is close by we can visit for a nice place to eat? It can be an Applebees,Chilis etc. Also we will be travelling from Rhode Island. How is the traffic around 10:00AM? Thank you for any help you can give me!!! Murph

Traffic to LI is almost always heavy, especially crossing the bridges. However, 10 am shouldn't be too bad. I visited Sagamore Hill about 2 years ago. There definitely is not cafe on premises. There may be a couple of vending machines, but that's about it. The village of Oyster Bay is just a few minutes away and there are options to eat there.

Thank you for your reply. We live in Southern New Jersey but have never been to Long Island. We always here it is a very nice to visit but the traffic is a nightmare. We will be visiting Long Island and I thought about stopping by the Rosevelt home on the way home. Murph

There are no eating facilities at Sagamore Hill. However you do have some options. It is a nice place to picnic. If you would rather eat in a restaurant, there are many choices. Cafe al Dente has excellent Italiam food with good prices and very large portions for sharing. Tabys is a greek diner with consistently good food and excellent gyros and burgers. Canterburys has a varied menu with a large selection of beers from the bar. Wild Honey is more upscale with a very interesting menu and outside seating. For down home Oyster Bay tradition, there is Bonanza's hot dog stand that has dogs, fries, meatball hero's and terrific homemade ices. Enjoy.

Hi--If you are coming from RI, are you taking the ferry? If you are, then traffic shouldn't be bad at all. Also, if you do not want to try any of the great local resturants in Oyster Bay, then head down 106 until you reach Hicksville (a couple miles) there you will find the Broadway Mall. It has some chain resturants outside--Panera, Johnny Rockets, either Ruby Tuesdays or Applebees, and some others (there are a couple of buildings in the parking lot, but I can't think what places there are.).
