Car rentals

We're visiting Albuquerque in Oct and so far car rental prices are extremely high. Is this normal...like $800-1000 for a week.? This is at the airport. Any suggestions?

If your plans are for the first two weeks of Oct... The annual Balloon Festival, is The biggest Albuquerque event of the year! Rental cars are not the only services overpriced in town... So, if the balloon event is not on your short list... Go elsewhere ... or wait a week for things to get back to "normal" ... carracar

Try the rental centers off the airport location. Some of the Enterprise centers are as much as 50% cheaper. Of course, with the Balloon Fiesta, everything is prices higher than the rest of the year. In any event, stay away from the airport rental if you want lower prices.

Hi

If you haven't yet bought your plane ticket, look at Expedia.com and book a combo flight and car rental. I got the equivalent of $35 per day which was a lot less than booking those things separately

We always use the Budget off site rental. Cars are 1/2 the price as the airport. We take a cab there, and then can return car to the airport.

I found I could save $70 by renting from Budget outside the airport, at 1901 University. We might be staying at Marriott 3300 Prospect Avenue NE. Anyone have an idea how much a cab from airport to 3300 Prospect might cost, then another cab at from 3300 Prospect to 1901 University? Just thought it would make sense to ask to see if we are actually saving anything. Thanks!

Budget rental will actually pick you up at hotel if within a certain distance.
