Campervan rental

Hello all.

We will be flying in to SLC mid June to go up to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone parks.

We are looking to rent a campervan for the trip. We do not want an all singing, all dancing, Taj Mahal on wheels. All we really want is a bed and refrigerator.

What companies are there out of SLC that rent out very basic vans?

Basecampervans.com is the way to go! I was looking for accomodations and transportation options for our climbing trip to Utah and came across their website. The camper van solved both issues.

Matt and Jen were super helpful. They picked us up and dropped us off at the airport, they had maps for where we were going, they lent us guidebooks and a couple of crash pads. The van came equipped with everything that we needed (i.e. cookstove, cookware, plates, utensils, plug-in cooler, power supply for all our gadgets, etc) so that all we had to bring was our climbing gear, clothes and toiletries. We rock climbed in the Wasatch mountain range and then drove down to the Moab desert for more climbing and some canyoneering. Thanks to a cheap shower in a bag that we had bought and a private shower area that we fashioned by opening the back doors of the van and using a rope to hang a rope tarp, we were able to stay clean and smell fresh. The bed was clean and comfortable and best of all, we could pretty much spend the night wherever we wanted! In Moab, we camped on the Colorado river, surrounded by towering red cliffs. Every morning, when we opened the doors to the van, we were welcomed with breathtaking scenery... something I never tired of!

The Compressed Natural Gas was great. We only spent about 60 dollars for all the travelling that we did during a full week. We had peace of mind knowing that if the natural gas ran out before we could find a place to fill up, the van would automatically switch to the full gasoline tank. But thanks to Matt's hand drawn map and great directions, we never had to use the gasoline.

It was truly an amazing experience and I definitely recommend basecampervans.com to anyone looking to travel in Utah and the surrounding areas.
