Hilton Garden Inn Downtown Salt Lake City

Coming to Salt Lake City next month, I see that the Hilton Garden Inn downtown get mostly good reviews. Is anybody familiar with this hotel? Is it a safe downtown? (the city I live in you do not want to stay downtown). Are there places to eat around the hotel?

It's fine, just like all other HGIs. There's also an Embassy in the same block if you're a Hilton stayer. Both are fine and both super convenient to I-15/80. Only downside is that both are on a MAJOR traffic artery and very limited restaurants in walking distance. Totally fine part of town. It's about 3-4 blocks (long blocks) south of main part of downtown.

If you are a Hilton stayer, there's a Homewood Suites that's nice and within closer walking distance of restaurants and other entertainment areas. We live here but have actually stayed at that hotel. There's also a Hilton but not exactly one of Hilton's best properties. Location is great.

Have fun.

We've stayed there several times so we're reasonably familiar. And we'll happily stay there again if the occasion suits. Never during any of our stays (up to 5 days at a time) have we felt unsafe around the hotel or along the blocks to the main part of downtown.

True there are limited places to eat right around the hotel. But other than during snowstorms we have never found the walk a few blocks north to a selection restaurants to be a problem. Even after a good days hiking in the mountains.
