Has anybody stayed at the top ten hoiday park at Franz Joseph. I have read the accommodation reviews and everywhere seems dodgy or out of my price range

We stayed in the Top 10 holiday park in Franz Joseph in our van for a night. The usual Top 10 quality, as you would expect.

The only drawback is that it is well outside of town which is a pain if you fancy a beer in the evening. There is one hotel a short walk towards town though that does fantastic, and cheap fish and chips.

We stayed here as well, and found it to our liking. You can see the glacier from the park, the staff was very friendly and helpful, the Internet connection was great, and the bathrooms and kitchen facilities were top-notch.

If you need to be where all the action is, then pay more and stay in town. If you can make your own fun, you will be happy at the Top Ten.

We stayed there for two nights and, like all of the Top 10 Holiday Parks we stayed in, it was great for our needs. It's not fancy, but it is clean, roomy, and safe, and the staff was very helpful. We had a burned-out lightbulb, and when we went to the office to report it, they followed us back to the unit and fixed it.

We used the BBQs to make hamburgers one night, which was great. We also used the laundry facilities, which was very handy.

The park is a little ways out of town, but I believe that most of the Top 10s are that way. They have to have a lot of land for the variety of accomodations, and I wouldn't think there would be space in the towns for that. It also keeps the costs down.

We have stayed at the Top Ten, and ditto to all the other posters. It is a bit out of town, it does have fantastic views, and it was a bit of a concrete park when we were there, but they were in the middle of building. It is a busy park though, so do book your pitch the morning you set off from your previous destination (if you are staying in Top Tens, they normally do this FOC for you)
