Does Mill Valley suffer from the same fog as San Francisco?

Planning a visit to the area in mid/late October 2010 and trying to decide whether to stay in Mill Valley or somewhere further south and inland. Well aware that the city can be fog bound while 30 miles down the bay it is clear and summary.

Thanks for any advice!

1. Re: Fog?

In my memory fog is not usually an issue in San Francisco in October. Indeed, it can be one of the best months, weather-wise, in San Francisco.

Hi -

Overall, Mill Valley does not suffer the same degree of fog that San Francisco does. That being said, it can get foggy, but it usually clears up by mid day.

In October, we usually have little fog. It is a very good time of year to come here.

Have fun.

3. Re: Fog?

Fog generally isn't a problem in the Bay Area in October regardless of location. The foggiest months usually coincide with summer, and fog is most likely during the May-August period.
