Train to Apartahotel Acuasol.

Hi

Can anyone tell what the best way to get to Apartahotel Acuasol from Barcelona? we would prefer not hire a car and were wondering if a train stop is in walking distance.

No train in Peniscola. Benicarlo is the nearest not very far next town up the coast and buses run into Pen or can get a taxi at the station. Need to look up train times on Renfe and possibly book ticket to tie up with your flight

Hi, thanks for the comment around the transport to Peniscola. Can you advise if hiring a car is compulsory or can one rely on local transport? We have visiting Valencia in mind, for example. Also, are their specific excusions/restaurants etc you can recommend? Mark

I think if your visiting Valencia the train times for a day trip are better than Barca. That is the Barca trains seem to come back early but check out the RENFE web site for times. If your not a keen driver Barca and Valencia are a bit daunting. Having said that driving generally is not to bad . Barca airport is on the Peniscola side and the A7 toll motorway runs right to the southern tip of Spain along the coast and its not too busy as local traffic use the A340 old road which is parallel(EU financing I guess) B is about 21/4hr Val 13/4.

If you have a car clearly youll be able to visit Morella, the mountains , or the caves near Castellon. Don't know anything about your interests or group but there is also a theme park up near Salou 1 hour away a water park going south and the next resort 15 mls south Alcobresse has nice beaches too.

In Peniscola main meals are of course seafood. I like El Penon in the old town just before tou get to the castle after entering from the north. Try the Sea Bass cooked in salt. or the reasonable set menu. Vista del Mar on the South side of the walled town is nice for lunch looking out over the sea. Can get expensive but do good value menu of the day. You must eat in what I call 'the Street' in the old town Line of restaurants tapas bars with tables set in a cobbled street. Great atmosphere youll know it when you see it. Finally if you look up at the old town from the North entrance near the top youll see sunshades on the battlements. Not a great restaurant but have a drink and enjoy the views.
