Hi, my family and are considering visiting Mesa Verde during the first week of April 2007, as well as southern Utah (Zion and Monument Valley area) on the way in. I've never been to southern Colorado - what is the weather like in early April? (I'm already guessing "unpredictable" :) ) Is it warmer south of I-70? What are the roads like? We'll be driving a Honda Oddysey mini-van with a hard cartop carrier. What are the trails like? We only have time for one day and the shorter trails and one guided visit. Also, does anyone know what times, in general, the guided tours are?
Also, we're tent-camping along the way, and Mancos SP looks like a good place if it's not below freezing. (We've camped - even backpacked - before, so we know what to expect in that department).
Otherwise, we might rent one of the cabins at the KOA.
Another qu. - which is better, Chaco Culture or Mesa Verde? Mesa Verde is closer to Monument Valley, but if it's worth the longer drive, we could do Chaco. Thanks, sorry for the ga-zillion questions, thanks again.
