We are just back from a visit to Mesa Verde National Park last week (May 25th). Be advised that there is ongoing road construction for about the first ten miles into the park from the entrance. This included two stops in our case, with the "follow me" cars, taking traffic back and forth on one lane. The stops are not that bad, approximately 10 minutes, but annoying. :-) Also be advised that the construction has left some monumental potholes, and dropoffs on the open highway in spots, so hold your speed down. Otherwise, there were many tourists already arriving before the Memorial Day Weekend, but nothing like the numbers that will arrive mid-June and beyond. Be sure to bring a personal supply of water with you, as well as a hat, and sunglasses. Enjoy the ruins, and cliff dwellings!
