building work near primera hotel

hi can anyone help me ,if anyone has just come back from malta,do you know if the building work in front of the primera hotel is still going on,and if so is it really noisy and dusty.

me and my hubby will be going in 3 weeks, cant wait to go back to malta again, was there in april and the builders were just laying foundations for new appartments there.

as we are staying at the primera this time i would be most grateful of any news.

i have sent an email to the hotel direct a few times but they have not returned a reply as yet.

thanks to all

Hi Superkaz,

Please don't take any advice from brain-dead zombies like BENNYBLOOM or KEITHENGLAND. You will not have to endure noise or dust. Building work is an on-going thing, not only in Bugibba, but all over Malta. As you know, there is more than just an Irish Bar, O'Reiley's(highly recommended) and a kebab shop around the corner, to keep you entertained around Bugibba Square. As for timeshare, the advice is, don't stop and talk to them, because whatever they promise you is rubbish. Smile, keep walking and tell them you live in Malta, that normally does the trick. In any case, they dont work at night. I know a lot of what I have written you already aware of, but anybody who has never been to Malta, hopefully will read this, and disregard the comments made by HINGE and BRACKET named above. Have a good holiday, may see you in Pearsons, opposite the Bocci Club.

hi crepello

thanks for yor your post,i would not take any notice of the zombies you mentioned.i have been to malta 5 times and always stay in bugibba. we met a lovely guy who lives in bugibba who we became friends with.

i am just saying this because thats what all maltese people are like friends, malta is the place my husband and i would love to retire to,as for it been like blackpool, its nothing like it,you can walk around the streets without dodging dog poo in malta ,but its along every pathway in blackpool, also vomit that drunken stag and hen parties have splattered across the pavement, never ever seen anything discusting like that in malta, there is no comparison. only 10 more days to go now and counting, just cant wait

i much prefer the mongolian,i am not a macdonalds fan myself,as for tacky bars with so called 1970,s music i would not know as i prefer nice wine bars like the one at the dolmen.

i would be interested keithengland the type of places you frequent while on holiday.maybe the tacky ones you mentioned. or do you prefer the rowdy bars in paceville, where you cannot converse with anyone but yourself as the music too loud. it would be interesting to know what other countries you have travelled to and if you say the same about every where you have been.

Re KEITHENGLAND's post about the building work near the Preluna. It is true the Promenade Hotel adjacent to the Preluna is being replaced by apartments but the Promenade has long gone and the apartments have been built up to shell. However, THERE IS NO NOISE OR DISRUPTION near the Preluna as work is not ongoing at the moment and the apartments have been screened to prevent any dust. It is understood further permits are awaited. So please KEITHENGLAND do not cause possible concern to people looking forward to their holiday in that part of Sliema.

It is also true there are timeshare touts operating in Buggibba and Sliema and probably other resorts too. If you are not interested, just tell them so or tell them you already own property on the island.

It's taken at least SIX years( probably longer )to get to the state where they are shells..

The Preluna is a good hotel,i know because I have stayed there, but you will find just as much ongoing work in Sliema like on the road that has the Plevna Beach Club on it .

keithengland's comments: I was talking to the owner of The Grapevine last night and he assures me he has NEVER had drag artists appear in his restaurant/bar.

As keithengland's comments gave the impression that The Grapevine was a sleazy drunks bar, a complaint was made to the moderators of TripAdvisor. Unfortunately they seem to think that making false, detrimental remarks is okay. The truth is, the Grapevine is an very good restaurant/bar which provides a vast range of exellent food and a variation of entertainment in the bar. But don't take my word for it, the dipstick told you how to get there, give The Grapevine a try.
