Richmond for a day and night

I will be in Richmond for a night before and day before we leave for a lakehouse outside of Richmond.

What is the best hotel in Richmond. I saw the Jefferson got mixed reviews...is it nice? It there a nicer hotel?

Are there any Plantations or winery's outside of Richmond we should stay at instead?

What should we visit and where should we eat? I want to eat at the best places!

From my experience The Jefferson is as nice as it gets in Richmond. Richmond does not have any what I would call world-class hotels. I think it is a very nice hotel, but not perfect.

The best meal I've had this year in Richmond was at 1 North Belmont. www.1northbelmont.com/

Check out www.visit.richmond.com/ for things to do in the Richmond area. Let us know if you want information about something specific you find interesting there.

The Jefferson IS the best - even the queen stayed there on her visit. Many museums and gardens in area. Maymond Park is wonderful, Lewis Ginter Gardens great (they even have a children's section), Confederate White House, State Capitol Building tour, Canal Walk, Science Museum... all worth a visit!!

Which queen, and when? When Queen Elizabeth II came to Virginia in 2007, she stopped in Richmond, but she stayed at the Williamsburg Inn.

Nonetheless, The Jefferson is the best in Richmond.
