One day in anchorage

I am flying to anchorage tommorow for a conference and have one and a half free days before it starts. I would like to go to Denali, but it seems to far.

Does anyone have any advice on where I should spend my one day?

If you have not seen Seward, drive from Anchorage to Seward -its a really pretty drive and there is a glacier down there you can see. If you can get a boat trip out to Kenai Fjord Lands National Park that would be neat thing to do (may be all booked).

Exit Glacier:

Alaska Sea Life center is here worth a look.

On the way back stop by Alyeska - they have a tram that will give you gorgeous views of the Alaska area...

In addition, they do have a tourist attraction that guarantees viewing the animals...

Big Game Animal Park by Tunagain Arms

Note: This is all south of Anchorage and would make for a wonderful day and a half.

Assuming you can rent a car, you can drive easily up to Denali Park in about 3.5 or 4 hours - if the weather is good, there's a good view of the mountain from around Talkeetna - about 2.5 hours from Anchorage. You could stay O/N probably but if you couldn't find a room, you could easily drive back to Anchorage.

Take it easy driving as it is a two lane road and will have a lot of traffic. Have fun!
