Hotel near train station

We are looking for a hotel or B & B to stay in for one night in late June near the train station. We will arrive after 8pm and will leave on the early train out of Anchorage for Seward. We would rather not pay over $200 for what seems like a pretty short stay, but that is what we are finding.

If we can't find something close to the train station, do hotels offer shuttles to the train station like they do to the airport? The only one we have found with a train station shuttle is a Ramada...$199.

Any suggestions?

Have you tried Comfort Inn? Right near the depot, has shuttle to airport and RR.

Unfortunately hotel prices in Anchorage in the summer are high.

Double check that the Ramada offers the shuttle that early (you need to be there by 5.45am I believe but if you get there at 5.30am or earlier there is usually little or no line to check in).

If it is a choice between a more expensive hotel near the train station or a much less expensive one in another part of the city and needing a taxi, you might consider the less expensive, further hotel if the total cost is significantly less.
