Take the Sound Transit bus #590 It's a comfortable ride and runs about every half hour. stops right in front of the museum
I've been there a few times and honestly with the new Chihuly Museum at the Space Needle its a far more impressive display than what you see in Tacoma. If you visit Glasshouse Studios in Pioneer Square you can see workers doing glass blowing in front of you. I'd think that these two stops would be far nicer than getting to Tacoma and back. There is the new Lemay car musuem also near the Tacoma Dome so if your into cars two museums are close to each other.
Chihuly is very good if you only want to see the works of one glass artist. However the Tacoma Museum of Glass features many others from around the world. Check their website to see what will be on display whilst you are visiting. In addition right next to the Tacoma Glass Museum is the Tacoma Art Museum and the Washington State History Museum. All worth a visit
If you want to visit Le May car museum...it isnt "close" to the Museum of Glass but can be easily gotten to by taking the Tacoma Light Rail line that takes you to the Tacoma Dome and across the street is the car Museum.
Thanks, SeattleSophie. Will check out the Chihuly.
