EZ Car Rental Seattle is a rip off

I too got drawn into the EZ cheap pricing trap. When I dropped car yesterday at Sea Tac airport was told by agent after checking mileage and gas that there was "damage" on car.

I asked her to show me - I knew that I had had no incident with the vehicle so was quite surprised. My surprise turned into shock and dismay, as she pointed to an area that looked to me discolored from dirt on the rear fender behind driver.

I said I didn't see anything, but she got down on her knees, tilted her head a certain way, and pointed to area from her viewpoint in a certain angle of light. I was finally able to see a slight change in texture as well as coloration in that area.

She said it was a scrape. I immediately pointed out to her that when I did the check before driving off of the parking lot, which was dark I might add, I did not have a flashlight, a magnifying glass, nor did I get down on my knees and tilt my head a certain way to check for damages.

My bad luck it turns out. EZ has already booked 4 separate charges onto my two different credit cards (used one for the reservation and changed it to pay on another upon drop off), before I or my auto insurance company have even heard from their claims department!

Makes me wonder how many claims have been made on this same "damage". Car renters be warned!!!!

Sorry about your experience.

I've got in the habit of taking photos of my rentals cars.

I always have my digital camera with me and I walk around the car snapping pics from all angles.

I take photos both when I pick it up and when I drop off. I save them for a few months after I return in case of delayed charges for damages showing up.

I will never rent from EZ Car again, no matter how attractive the price appears. My reservation at SEA was at 12pm, I was able to get on an earlier flight and went to pick up the car at 10:30am. Since I was early they would not honor my $17. per weekend rate. I could wait 1 1/2 or pay $57 for a different car. The agent and manager told me they manage their inventory in 15 minute increments. I asked what if my flight was late, and their reply was then the fare would not be guaranteed. We were not going to stand around for 1 1/2 hours so I told the agent we would take the $57 rate. My 15 minutes for that rate was up, the new rate $98. I cant make this up! I went to Hertz and plopped down my gold card, apologized for not being faithful and they took me back with open arms. $54 for a camero for the weekend!

Great advice DumbDog! Easy to take pics with todays cell phones if you don't happen to have your digital camera handy. Will remember that for my future car rentals!!

Place is a definite rip off. I had an issue with my credit card and had to use a pre-loaded credit card and the only place that would take it was ez. They made me buy their insurance, even though I had a copy of my insurance policy with the rental car rider on it, and hit me with a $200.00 charge on my card that has yet to be returned. Their rental price was 3X the amount of anyone else. Thankful I could get a car, as I was in a jam, not happy at being victimized by this company.

Same thing happened to me as well! Not sure if this is their ways of making the $ back from the cheaper car rental price.

I rented a car last month for a week. They found a ding/dent on the front right fender with a tiny paint chip. I didn't even notice it. I am not even sure if it was there when I picked up the car. They made me file a claim for this. Few weeks later, they contacted me with the bill of $9XX.XX. It says something about the work, resurface, paint, labor...

A small dent cost me $9XX.XX???!?!?!?!?!?! It is a ripped off!!! I am still talking to them to ask for a lower charge (which I don't think they will). I am also going to file a BBB complain.

I guess the lesson learned from this:

- Go for a trustworthy rental company

- Don't be led by lowest rental price

- Inspect the car thoroughly at the pick up

The same thing happened to me in August. I returned the car to the airport and the attendant claimed I had a ding in the car door! The other attendant wasn't able to see it. I even asked someone from Dollar Car rental, who happened to be standing nearby, if he could see anything. He couldn't. EZ wanted me to fill out a damage report stating I was a fault for this mystery ding. I refused . Two weeks later I was hit with a $1000.00 claim!!!! Don't ever use this company
