Tripadvisor & other search engines show the whole of St Anton full for next Saturday ~ do hotels /B&B hold out in the hope of a longer booking & then release rooms last minute?
You should always use the resorts own website for accommodation search. Note that these are purely accommodation searches and NOT bookings. Just because a property shows availability does not mean the Hoteliers will take your booking. You must always wait for a reply DIRECTLY from the Hoteliers on availability.
You are unlikely to get a booking anyway for Sat/Sun night only. It messes up a whole weeks booking.
2 nights booking is really last last minute. Even with 1 week to go Hoteliers often want a minimum of 3 or 4 nights.
These resort websites also often have a minimum number of nights built into the search. Each Hotelier can set default criteria. These minimum number of nights based on days before arrival. So even if there is availability this may not necessarily be shown.
Also smaller B&Bs often have fixed weeks throughout the season.
20 years ago it was far easier. Years ago we would go for a days skiing on saturday and pack an overnight bag on spec and just enquire in the village after skiing. As my mate says these days the hoteliers won't accept an off the street one night enquiry on a saturday as they expect some family of 4 from denmark having driven down on spec without a booking to turn up wanting a full week ;-)
