Will be going to Ellmau in a few weeks for a spot of skiing.....would like to get a feel for the price of a large beer, glass of wine and a shot of schnapps on the mountain and in the village. We are staying at the Gasthof Schonblick...any ideas as to the prices at the bar/cafe? Cheers.

Ellmau and the skiwelt in general is one of the more reasonably priced ski resort areas.

Rather than specifics to mountain restaurants I will try to give an indications of what you may pay in Ellmau (bars/Apres ski etc)

As far as beer is concerned there is 2 general trends in Austria. Weissbier (Wheat based beer) is generally only sold in bottles which come in 0.5litre or 0.3litre bottles. Bier (in german bayerisch "Helles") lager type beer is sold on tap - however you can find it sold as 0.25l , 0.3l , with a "large" beer being 0.4l or 0.5l depending where you go so check the drinks card. If you want a larger beer make sure you ask for it and don't assume that if you order a beer it will automatically be a "large" 0.4l or 0.5l. Expect to pay somewhere up to 4 euros for a large beer. Bottle beers (33cl) like Heineken/corona generally similar price to a Large draught beer

Wine - some places sell small measures (0.125l) or larger (0.25l)

For 0.125 expect to pay somewhere around 2-2.50euros

Shots - Things like Baileys/Tequila/Jaermeister in 3cl about 3euros

Schnapps/Williams in 2cl about low 2euros

These are general so as is typical with mountain restaurants maybe slightly more but not much
