Base for skiing/boarding in Hochfugen

Hi, are planning 4 or 5 days at Hochfugen in Feb 2012.

We will travel from Arosa, Switzerland. It would be a late afternoon arrival at Jenbach.

Would it be best to arrange all accommodation in Fugen and take the ski bus to Hochfugen each day or stay in Hochfugen where options for other activities would be very limited.

Ski bus to Hochfügen can take 30 minutes or more depending on way you stay by Fügen.

Add February being a very busy time with school vacations here and the trip is not much fun. Sometimes some heavy traffic on the road up too as this is one of the first major places for those arriving by auto in the Zillertal.

Some good apre ski in Hochfügen area. To me Hochfügen the better choice.

But consider Kaltenbach - the next major cillage after Fügen.

Now this town has added another fast bahn from the valley- doubles capacity -

access to the areas above Kaltenbach - half pipe there too by the ascent lift - - good ski circus-access to the area of Hochfügen as well -and the board park there too.

Decent back to the valley at Kaltenbach is available most times and some night skiing too.

It looks like the Hotel Gastof Post in Kaltenbach may be a good choice. As suggested we can ski across to Hochfugen.

Perhaps a good choice for you - not far from the main lifts - hotel has a ski depot at the lifts to save time and trouble. Access to the entire mountain areas above Kaltenbach and Fügenberg

I think a busier road is by the hotel- inquire about this - perhaps a room away from the front of the hotel may be more quiet if a light sleeper.

The Post hotel now has no vacancy as we travel in school holidays in February. Next to try is the Gastoff Hockzillertal, also in Kaltenbach.
