Easting out in Mayrhofen

Hi, I'm off to Mayrhofen in the new year and bit worried about the falling pound.. What can I expect to pay for a typical starter, main course, glass of wine or beer? Last time I went to Austria we could afford to eat out every night but don't think we'll be this time.

Thanks :)

if you go in to a restaurant look for the tag carte the hotel carla near the train station has a 3 course menu for approx 10 euro and a beer cost around 2to3 euros the best food is a resturant about 15 minutes walk outside of town called the bruggerstuble my spelling is not good 3 course large dinner 9 to 11 euro and if you get known by the waitress a free schapps good holiday

I believe that the above poster refers to the Tagesmenu - a fixed menu of several courses with a fixed , usually reduced price.

Many places will offer this.

Often they also refer to a Mittgsmenu - same fixed price offering of several courses - often a soup, main course and dessert.

These vary in price by the place and also menu offerings but mmost all from 6-10 euro.Drinks extra and this is often a large portion of the bill - watch prices things such as cola and mineral water often as much or more than alcohol drinks.

wine - 2-4 euro

Beer -3 euro.

again depending on the place.

If price is a concern - avoid the mountain hut restaurants - higer prices than in town places-

also avoid larger hotels Neuhaus - Elisabeth and others as price is higher -

many say Elisabeth has lost quality and the pizza place in the lower level there is less than good.

Seveal recommendations

The restaurant - Cafe Everest in the Hotel Andrea - always seems o offer good food at a fair price.

also the Edelweiss

Mannis - always good for pizza

great way to save - go to the various food markets - good selection of food and drink - make your own midday or evening meal- good meat market on the main street also.
