Flores > Tikal > and east to Belize

Hi All,

A quick question hoping you can give me a feedback.

Is this realistic:

- arriving at Flores at 7pm

- visiting Tikal next morning

- leaving Tikal and heading to Belize same day afternoon

If yes, would you recommend overnighting in Flores or somewhere closer to Tikal? Any hotel suggestions?

Also, how difficult is it to get out from Tikal to the Belize border?

THANKS A LOT!!

If you stay in Flores you have a wider choice of hotels and restaurants and some of them overlooking the lake www.corpetur.com www.santanapeten.com www.hotelsabana.comm Good luck

That's not much time but would be far preferable to a day trip imo. To maximize your time at the ruins and your enjoyment, stay at one of the 3 hotels in the park instead of an hour away. My favorite is the Tikal Inn www.tikalinn.com - nice large, bright rooms and a wonderful pool. Try to get an early morning tour with amazing archaeologist/naturalist Roxy Ortiz who bases out of there when she's not away on a dig - HIGHLY recommended.

You won't have trouble arranging a ride back to the border. If you want to arrange it in advance, consider contacting Pacz Tours and/or Maya Walk in Belize. My photos, blogs, and detailed travelogues are below; there are Tikal sets in the 2003, 2007, and 2009 collections. Happy trails!
