best saturday lunch/brunch

Hi there,

We are arriving early on a Saturday morning and are looking for a great restaurant in the quarter or downtown to kick off our stay for lunch/ brunch. My fellow travelers have never been to NOLA, so this will be their first taste of the amazing cuisine there, therefore, this first experience needs to represent New Orleans. I was originally looking at Mr. B's, but they don't do jazz on Saturdays which is partly why I wanted to go there. Considering Cochon or Stanley, but need your help!

Thanks!

Commanders Palace has an excellent Saturday Jazz Brunch. It doesn't get any more classic New Orleans than Commanders.

I'm highly considering Commanders for Brunch on our last day (a Saturday)...website says brunch is from 11:30 - 12:30 on Saturday's! Could that be a typo? Only 1 hour!!

If you want a New Orleans Sat Jazz Brunch, go to Commander's. ..not available at Stanley and Cochon.

Although they don't have Jazz Cafe Amelie at 912 Royal St is a beautiful setting for brunch and a wonderful introduction to a French Quarter courtyard. CafeAmelie.com

I always kick off my NOLA stay with a Muffaletta and Pimms cup at Napoleon House. There won't be Jazz, but it's very New Orleans, whether sitting in the Courtyard, or in the bar area with large windows for street views.

They do a warm muff. I prefer a cold one, but it's not bad. Just a little different. The Pimms Cup is to die for. Not too sweet, very refreshing.

I think almost any where you eat lunch or brunch in Nola is a good thing! The food is amazing at almost every place I have been too!

Thanks for all the great recommendations. We are not necessarily looking for brunch or jazz music, just a really authentic experience to start our trip. We will be in NOLA in December, so I'm guessing courtyard dining would be out, right? I was thinking about commander's but we really want to stay in around the quarter the first day. Ambiance and great food are both important...
