Is a jacket really required for Commander's Palace?

Or can a man be dressed in nice dress pants and a buttoned down shirt? Does the dress code vary for lunch and dinner? My husband would prefer not to pack a jacket if he doesn't have to. Thanks for the info.

I am so glad you just posted this, as I had come to ask the same question! To take it a bit further, would nice jeans and polo shirt be acceptable for lunch or is that taking it too far?

I don't like to be the most underdressed person in a restaurant, even though I could be.

At lunch at Commander's I wear nice slacks, dress shoes and polo shirt.

At dinner I wear nice slacks, dress shoes, nice shirt AND a jacket as their web site states:

'No shorts or T shirts. Jackets preferred at dinner.

Men must have closed-toe shoes'

Jeans will generally get you exiled to a seat by the bathroom but, yes, you will generally get in. I'd wear khakis and a nice shirt at a minimum.

No jacket required at lunch, but appropriate dress requires collared shirt, and non-athletic closed shoes and socks. As for pants, nice pressed good condition jeans will get the job done but are frowned upon. If someone really likes the feel of jeans, I have found that nice pressed good condition black jeans don't seem to elicit the frowns. Dockers type pants are very acceptable during the day.
