Is harrahs casino within walking distance to french quarter/bourbon styreet?

i also read that someplaces are a 30 min to an hour cab ride???.

a1copy guy - welcome to the New Orleans forum! Yes, Harrah's is right across the street from the edge of the French Quarter. Bourbon Street is a few blocks further up. At Harrah's, you are only about a 10 minute walk from being right in the heart (Jackson Square) of the Quarter. I have never flown to New Orleans, but I believe that the cabs charge a flat rate to go to the Quarter. Someone else will be able to help you on that.

It's a flat rate from the airport to hotels in the French Quarter and CBD. $33 for two people.

I'm not sure what you mean in your second question. What places are you referring to, and where will you be when you are trying to reach them?

A cab from MSY to your hotel is $33.00 for one or two people. It's around 30 minutes or less depending on traffic. What hotel are you staying in. Harrah's is a very short walk to the FQ. The Windsor Court is an outstanding hotel across the street from Harrah's and August is a fine dining restaurant next to the WC. Enjoy your visit.

A1copyguy--Welcome to the Nawlins forum! Taxi's from the airport run NON-STOP! When you get out of the airport all you do is follow the taxi signs. Walk up to the lady and tell her you need a cab to the Quarter and it won't take long. The cab ride is a fixed rate for 2 people at $33.00. Depending if you get a speed demon or not it takes about 1/2 an hour of so to get there. It is pretty fast and painless! Have a wonderful time in NOLA and if you have any more questions we all will be more than happy to help!!!!!

Hey Dan, it's about a half hour from airport to hotel in the Quarter. What "other places" are you planning on seeing? I hope you love NOLA like we all do...it doesn't have the "glitz" of Vegas...but that's one of the reasons I love it so much! She's grungy AND Beautiful!

P.S. Here's a Groupon deal for a limo:

We've stayed at Harrah's twice and enjoyed it both times but it has gone up in price quite a bit from when we stayed there. It's a good location but I have to say I prefer the smaller NOLA style hotels in the Quarter. We stayed at Le Richelieu on our last trip and loved it. Check out some of the reviews on hotels in the Quarter and decide for yourself. Some people prefer a chain or large hotel like Harrahs. (I do like the casino, though!)

thanks dennypcbcla

its a comped trip. ,most of our air is covered, rooms are comped.

pretty significant amount of free slot play as well as dining credits. perfect chance for us to visit a new location other than AC,or vegas.

booked the trip so il be there for my 52nd birthday.

last year we skipped a reguler vacation because we were going to vegas twice a year, but the drought between breaks took its toll so i guess this year we have 3 trips.

Slince this is your first visit to New Orleans and you evidently plan to stay near Harrah's, you probably won't need to "cab" anywhere unless you stay out very late in the evening and don't feel comfortable walking. New Orleans is a "walking city" and Bourbon is only 4 blocks from Harrah's if you walk straight down Canal St. Streetcars and busses are plentiful, inexpensive and can take you most anywhere you might want to visit other than the Quarter. Marigny , Treme, CBD, etc. are all within walking distance and it is safe to walk most anywhere in the daytime as long as you take normal "city" precautions, i.e. no flashing $$$, little flashy jewelry, are not falling down drunk, etc. Depending on where your hotel is and where you wind up, you might want to take a cab in the evening or make sure there are plenty of people walking nearby. To help you plan your trip you might want to go to neworleansonline .com, for hotels, restaurants, a calender of events, maps, coupons, and a free visitor's guide. You will love NOLA.
